Toulouse

Today is July 14 which is Bastille Day. This is the French 4th of July. There was a ceremony with a lot of military, police and a military band where a number of people were awarded the Legion of Honor.

Last night at dinner we ordered steak tartare. We ate it.
This church is St. Sernin which is the largestRomanesque cathedral in France.

On the secular side of things, they are having an outdoor film festival during July and August and look at this poster:  Bonnie & Clyde and they're showing Ghostbusters and over half the stuff is American.

We took a ride on their Petit Train with English earphones. This is the Garonne River which is important. Toulouse is the home of Airbus and where the Concorde was built. In the Middle Ages, the merchants from Toulouse built their fortunes trading a blue pastel dye called woad.

The name of the central square here is called Place du Capitole. On this square is the market place but also city hall and the opera house. Opera is very important here.

This is the entrance to the opera house.

Many artists decorated the walls. L
