My grandson, Luke's, third birthday.

The week before Thanksgiving we journeyed to North Georgia (Athens & Atlanta) for our grandson's third birthday. It was quite a celebration. All of his preschool class was invited. It was held in a basketball gym and there were all kinds of great toys for the kids to play with.

Luke is a huge monster truck fan, and all of his preschool was invited to his party.

Even his cake has a monster truck theme.

The Chick Fil A cow even showed up for a visit.

Here is Cousin Julia with one of the great toys they had to play with.

A world map was on Luke's list so Ed and I gave that to him.

The Kiddies Come for the Weekend..............

Suzanne helped me learn how to write below the photos.
I'm going to send a msg to Carmen to tell her how to
do it.

I have space in here to write captions. Thanks, Suzanne.

Dear Suzanne: Thank you for showing me this trick!!!

Here are Luke and Julia hanging out on the porch.

We had a wedding here on Tybee and this is what I wore.................

In Atlanta with Children & Grandchildren

We went to a very beautiful new park on the Chattahoochee River which is close to my son Walker's house.

A stop in Williamsburg on the way back to GA

We stopped to visit our condo in Williamsburg. We took the dogs over to visit Historic Williamsburg for a morning walk before heading south to Atlanta, on our way to visit the grandkids.

Hersheyland, PA

My dad always told me that the family farm was on the road between Lebanon and Hershey, PA. We ended up staying in a hotel in Hersey where we encountered Hersheyland in the morning. Here are shots of the amusement park and candy factory in Hershey.

A trip to visit my cousins in Lebanon, PA

Over the past 15 years, I went on a quest to figure out who my father's relatives were. All I knew was that he had been born in Lebanon, PA. I began doing the regular investigations thru the U.S. Census Bureau, etc. and I eventually found my family and even my relative who was the family genealogist who befriended me and said "Yes, we are cousins." So, here are my cousins, and my great uncles grave stones and the very beautiful creek that was very near our farm.

More Rockefeller Estate

The Rockefeller Estate

We journeyed up to Tarreytown today, on our very last day, to visit the estate of the Rockefellers. The first one acquired the land and built the main house and each succeeding patriarch added things. Nelson added his modern art acquisitions. Of course, the place is magnificent.

Dinner with Doug & Lamar and their old friends

We had cocktails in their Park Avenue apt. and then dinner at this very nice restaurant.

Snug Harbor, Staten Island

We met some women gardeners while in the East Village and they recommended Snug Harbor on Staten Island. We thought it would be interesting to explore Staten Island so we did. To be charitable, do it in the spring, not August when it's really hot.

The Addams Family

Our friends, Doug and Lamar, came to visit all their old friends in NYC. They lived in CT and PA for almost 30 years and so this is coming home for them. They had befriended Morgan James, a member of the cast of the Addams Family, when she came to Savannah to participate in the annual Music Festival there. She got us tickets for the show and we all went to dinner afterward. It sounds like she has a very promising career in that she has a one-woman show coming up in Asheville, NC before she takes it to Birdland this fall. Check out her website: morganjames.org.

The East Village

When I told Ed we were heading out to the East Village he said: haven't we already been there? But when we got off the subway at Aster Place and he saw Cooper Union, he knew we had never been here before. The East Village is quite gritty as is exemplified by Tompkins Square Park which was known as the needle park 40 years ago. I think it still is, it's just calmed down. We saw some beautiful gardens scattered thru out the area. There are so many young people.
