The Winter's Tale/Shakespeare in the Park

Yesterday, once again, Ed journeyed to Central Park arriving around 6:30 a.m. for tickets for The Winter's Tale. He was fourth in the Senior line. While he waited until 1 p.m. for the ticket distribution, he networked with his fellow seniors. When we arrived for the performance that evening at 8 p.m., Ed knew everyone in our section. Our seats were in the first row. The performance was perfectly executed, the sets were quite clever, and the stagecraft was very interesting to see so close up. There was a breeze and a full moon, no rain, it was very excellent. However, the plot is pretty lame. You can see a parallel to Henry VIII in the first half and then the second half is purely
Shakespeare with his pairings to end the play.

  1. One must be a hardy soul with strong backbone to wait in NYC lines for the chance to buy a ticket to one of the less stellar of Shakespeare's plays. Here's to Ed for doing just that -- not once, but twice (and maybe more to come?). I recognize one cast member, Baptiste, an English actor.
