The Bloedel Reserve

This is a 150 acre wooded garden or haven or whatever you would call such a beautiful place. A husband and wife who were very wealthy timber people created this place starting around 1970. It is on Bainbridge Island, an island right opposite downtown Seattle reachable by ferry in about 30 minutes.

Everything is made from the most perfect materials and designed by the leading landscape architects of the period.

The main house is in the background.

The boardwalk.

Ten feet of height was removed to give the house a better view.

This is the birch grove.

Every space is artfully accomplished.

Another Japanese garden.

Ed liked the gate.
