Whistler Ski Resort

This is an arch that the athletes walked through.

The road to Whistler follows the Howe Sound for the first 50 km.

First we saw the sign, and then we saw the bear!

This was the symbol for their Olympics.

They built a separate venue for the ski jumping and the biathlon. It's about 10 miles outside of town on the Vancouver side. Whistler is 2 hours northeast of Vancouver. The drive is very, very beautiful. For half of the drive the road follows the water. The farther north we get, the more beautiful the scenery. What is coming? Who knows.

That's a bear in the center of the photo. He was just grazing on the side of the road.

The visitor center.

This was the first day of a dirt biking competition. They use the ski slopes and lifts for dirt biking races. Quite spectacular.

People gather on the terraces of the restaurants.

Just driving down the road heading back to Vancouver.
