Today we went to Wave Hill.............

Wave Hill is a 28 acre estate overlooking the Hudson River in Riverdale, NY that was given to New York City by a philathropist in the 60s. It has been turned into a magnificent series of gardens. It also has a signature chair. We took the 1 train uptown to the end of the line, which is 242nd Street. A shuttle from Wave Hill picked us up and took us to the garden. The entire trip takes 45 minutes.

Free Theater in Riverside Park

Tonight we went to a production of the Trojan Women. It was produced on the steps of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument (Civil War) overlooking the Hudson at 89th Street. The guy who directed, etc. has a great CV and it was a bunch of hopeful young kids. What can I say? It was free. Although we gave them a donation.

Walking the dogs. Ed in front of our building.

Thursday in Central Park

Today I began the exploration of Central Park. Ed has been there a number of times jogging in the m0rnings. We went to the theater box office to find out about how to get tickets for the Shakespeare in the Park. This summer they are doing Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino playing Shylock and The Winter's Tale. We will attempt to get tickets on Saturday. Apparently getting tickets is largely a matter of luck. Here are pictures of the Boathouse Cafe, Alice in Wonderland bronze, etc.

La Cage aux Folles

On Wednesday in the afternoon we got tickets for Cage starring Kelsey Grammer. However, the true star of the show is the other guy, played by Douglas Hodge who is a Brit. He played the part in London and won the Olivier, which is their equivalent of the Tony. He is quite good; however, some might say over the top. We'll see if he wins the Tony Sunday night. This is his American debut.

Pictures of the Neighborhood

Our neighborhood.............

Our street deadends into St. John's Cathedral which is a huge tourist attraction. We haven't been there yet. At the corner of our street is the coffee shop used for the exteriors of the Seinfeld show. Everyone comes to take pictures of it. When we walk a block down we reach Riverside Park which was designed by Olmsted (the same guy who designed the exterior hardscape of the Capitol in DC and also Central Park). As you can see from the pictures, this is a dog haven.
