Chicago Cultural Center

This place used to be the main Public Library.  It contains the largest dome that Louis Comfort Tiffany ever created.  Now this is the main tourist information center.  The building is a treasure.  All original mosaics and light fixtures.  It's stepping back into a time over 100 years ago.

Remember when they had the fiberglass cows in Chicago?  And then they had the fiberglass bulldogs in Athens; and on Tybee we did the turtles?  Well this bronze cow was given to the city to thank them for the fiberglass cows.  Pretty cool.

So this is the Tiffany dome.  This building is between Marshall Field's and Millenium Park. Anyone can stick their head in and tour the building but it's not on the major tours because it's FREE.

This is the other dome in the building.  Remember that it was built as the public library.  This was in the reading room.  Can you imagine?

An absolutely great building.

Lunch @ Marshall Field's Walnut Room (now Macy's)

I was born and lived in Chicago until I was 10.  I know I would've eaten here when I was a little kid.  Thankfully, when Macy's bought Marshall Field's, they didn't change the Walnut Room.

Approaching the restaurant on the Seventh Floor.

The focal point of the room.

The view out the windows.

The famous chicken pot pie.

The dessert display.

Ernest Hemingway's Birthplace

The kitchen icebox.

They were all musical and also scientists.  I'm talking Ph.D.s, even the women.  Impressive.

This was my old neighborhood where I lived growing up.

Gruppo di Amici

Ed and I are on a quest to find an Italian restaurant that made us feel like we did in Boston.  This may be impossible, but that it our quest.

This is a neighborhood joint that has 1/2 price bottles of wine on Thursdays and $5 martinis on Sundays.  Enticing right?

Brick over pizza what good.

We're still questing.

The Book of Mormon

We won the lottery for $25 front row tickets on the first try!  We were prepared to journey downtown and try and try again.

We absolutely were enchanted with the show.  It is very outrageous, but I guess people are ready for it.

Went to the local theater restaurant for lunch.  It was okay, but where are the delis?

Around the Neighborhood.....................

This is the neighborhood.  What can I say?

This park is right down the street.

Can you imagine:  their dogwoods and peonies are just now blooming!

Somehow the modern houses just didn't hold up (to me).

This is the entrance to our apartment building.
