Unterammergau and Linderhof Castle, Bavaria

Here is Ed eating dinner at our first night in Bavaria. In the back is our inn.
The next day we visited Linderhof, the smallest but most perfect of Mad King Ludwig II castles.
This is the view from the other direction. No pix were allowed inside but the furnishings were original and opulent.
You've got to have a horse fountain.
Note the Alps in the background.
This was the way to the grotto at the top.
This grotto was totally man made.
That is his swimming pool. In the dead of winter in Bavaria this could all be heated. This guy lived in the mid 1850s so the technology was there.
He was a patron of Wagner and the grotto depicts a scene from Tannhauser.
This is a view from the top.
This water treatment is so Italian. Below is a neighboring hotel. Ludwig died a mysterious death at the age of 40 from drowning. He was a recluse because he was fighting homosexual desires.
