A boat ride on the Charles River

This was an hour-long cruise and the guide was very informative.

This is the Science Museum with the Planetarium.

Children is Boston can learn to sail during the Summer for $1.00 total.
This is the famous Citgo sign and even tho there is no longer a Citgo gas station, the City of Boston bought the sign and maintains it so that everyone can find Fenway Park.

Boston College, Harvard and MIT are on this river.  Many of the colleges have rowing houses along the
river.

This is a famous bridge.

A view of the city.

Taking the dogs to the liquor store

On the route where we walk the dogs is a liquor store where dogs are welcome.  They give them treats!  The dogs love to go there and don't understand when it's closed in the morning.

The first half of Restaurant Week

We stayed in Boston for Restaurant Week and also hopefully Tybee will be cooler when we get back September 1st.

This restaurant is Market by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.  It's his only restaurant in Boston.  It was magnificent!!!

The Kennedys used to hang out at this restaurant.  And tho it was an architectural gem, there was no chef here.

This was very fine dining in the North End.  High end Italian.  It was very good.

Faneuil Hall and Environs

This is Boston City Hall.  It's right in the midst of the historic district.

This is Faneuil Hall which is the seat of history for Boston.  Faneuil was a French Huguenot as was Paul Revere who came over because they were persecuted.

This is Samuel Adams who was John Adams' cousin.  He was one of the main revolutionaries.

This is one of the first taverns in Boston.

This is Paul Revere's house.

Paul Revere's statue.

Looking our from the Paul Revere Mall toward Old North Church.

There has been a market on this site since the beginning of Boston.  Now it's full of food stalls.

The inside of Faneuil Hall.  The painting is of Daniel Webster declaiming.  That's George Washington to the right.

A very nice shaded mall.  It's very tourist friendly.

Visiting Dan and Jamie in New Haven

Our friends, Dan and Jamie, are going to grad school @ Yale.

They have a beautiful apartment and will stay here for 3 years.

This is in one of the beautful buildings Dan showed us.

All of this means so much to Dan because of the architectual details.

These schools use their architecture dept. to design the campus.

This building is made out of translucent marble. Can you imagine?

This is one of their theater lobbies.

This is the main library (under renovation).

These are Pirenesi prints. There are a lot of treasures here.

Including two Gutenberg bibles!
